Retroperitoneal fibrosis is rare disease of obscure etiology that results in progressive renal failure by producing constriction and final obliteration of the ureters. Retroperitoneal fibrosis may associated with a fibrosis in the mediastinum,
sclerosing cholangitis, Riedel's thyroiditis, pseudotumor of the orbit, or generalized vasculitis.
A 31-year old woman admitted because she complained right upper quadrant pain, lumbago and indigestion. In the studies of uppr gastrointestinal series and abdominal CT, the tumor compressed the thid portion of the duodenum, and right kidney
enlarged. On
physical examination, right thyroid gland palpated and I131 uptake increased on right thyroid gland, but thyroid function test was within normal limit. We excised the tumor, and the tumor confirmed idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis by
histopathologically. We report this case with brief review of the literatures
